Grayscale PDF

Convert PDF pages to grayscale for cheaper black-and-white printing.

Accepted: PDF files (.pdf) · Max 50 MB per file · Files are processed in your browser and never uploaded.

Settings

No settings. Pages are rendered at about 144 DPI, converted to grayscale, and rebuilt into a new PDF. Colour information is removed, but because the output pages are images, you cannot select or search text in the result, and very large documents take longer to process.

How Grayscale PDF works

  1. 1.Upload one PDF (up to 50 MB).
  2. 2.Each page is rendered, converted to grayscale, and rebuilt into a new PDF.
  3. 3.Download the grayscale PDF for printing.

Privacy

This tool runs entirely in your browser. Your files are never uploaded to a server, never stored by PDFNova, and never shared with anyone. Closing the tab discards them. The only exception is if a future tool is explicitly labelled as server-processed — this tool is not one of those.

Frequently asked questions

Why is the text not selectable afterwards?

The output pages are images, not text layers. That is the honest trade-off of this browser-side method; a server-side colour-conversion tool could preserve text, but is not available in this static build.

Will the file get smaller?

Not necessarily — image pages can be larger than the original. Use Compress PDF afterwards if size matters, and compare the sizes.
