How Unlock PDF works

- 2.Enter its password. The password stays in your browser and is never sent anywhere.
- 3.Process and download the unencrypted copy.
Privacy
This tool runs entirely in your browser. Your files are never uploaded to a server, never stored by PDFNova, and never shared with anyone. Closing the tab discards them. The only exception is if a future tool is explicitly labelled as server-processed — this tool is not one of those.
Frequently asked questions
Why are the result pages images?
pdf-lib cannot decrypt password-protected PDFs, so this tool opens the file with pdf.js and rebuilds it from rendered pages. The result opens without a password, but its text is no longer selectable and the file may grow.
Can this remove someone else's password?
Only use this tool on files you own or are authorised to unlock. Removing protection you are not entitled to remove may be unlawful.
What if the password is wrong?
Processing stops with a clear error and no file is produced.
